22nd August, 2014 Clear Water Revival

A few days ago David and I took a bucket and spade to the communal water trough at Fritham. I had always thought it was a shallow trough but in fact it had 6" of accumulated silt from decades of dusty cows and ponies putting their noses in it as well as masses of thick blanket weed. Our efforts seem to have been appreciated if the queue to use it was anything to go by this morning. At least they are not having to filter their water through their teeth for a little while.

I think actually I was here first.
Nelly queue jumping as usual.

The second sitting
Nettles had his first ride out with another horse. Always gloriously independent but an absolute mare magnet we were interested to see whether he would cling to Petra or carry on in his own nonchalant way. Fortunately he was his usual happy little self.

Charly also had a little sit on Indy bareback and she was fine. She's not four until next year so that will be the most we will do until then.

This afternoon it was back down to Exbury to see Kestrel. He took to long reining very well and learned to go over the tarpaulin in incremental stages.

Narrow ribbon
Typical of David to get me a tarpaulin in KTM orange.
"Thank you for today - Kestrel was very happy and relaxed when I left - perfect!!" YS

We might have had a very busy day, but this little chap clearly hadn't.
