9th March, 2015 Trat, Trot!

What do Trat Trat in Thailand and Whitchurch in Bristol have in common?

A few years ago some of the Intelligent Horsemanship Recommended Associates took it in turns to deliver staff training at HorseWorld in Bristol. I was saddened when some time later some of the staff left when the Visitor Centre closed and savings had to be made. It seemed a shame when all of that experience in and dedication to rescuing and rehabiliatating horses and ponies, underpinned by IH techniques, was disappearing. Perhaps I shouldn't have worried. One member of staff, Harriett Ashford, began to travel the world with no particular plan and is now living in Trat Trat, Thailand where she and Thai friend, Tong, are starting a couple of horses using kind and gentle techniques. I'm pleased to be some sort of consultant for them but they seem to be getting on perfectly well on their own.

The horses are 3/4 Arab, 1/4 Thai breed. The chestnut mare is three years old and the bay stallion is seven.

Today Harriett and Tong are finishing off their round pen and the floor will be made of bamboo leaf.
