Happy Christmas

 

This is the man who saved my Christmas. Patrick, who works as a mechanic, driver and handy-man for the owners of the house, took me out for, mainly, short drives and visits - we got very lost once - and was happy to come and learn how to play Scrabble. We played in a mixture of English and Swahili. Since I have come back home, we 'meet' on a regular basis in his spare time to translate books from one language to the other, and are part way through Wimbo wa Tembo (the Song of the Elephant). 

On Christmas day itself we did all of the cooking ourselves in the evening, taking over the kitchen.

David showed Frezy how he makes Chicken Chat...

Xanthe was in charge of cooling us down with a cold Salsa and yoghurt side dishes...

While I spiced things up.

We did have one unwanted guest...nowhere near the food!
