I love it when an owner calls me out really soon after they have bought a new horse and at the first inkling of a problem. Many horses do find it difficult to adapt to an new environment whilst others take it in their stride. I'm building up to a blog on what I understand by catastrophic bonding which seems to happen to some horses when they move. However, it is really irritating when I have set an owner up with a great start, established gentle leadership and a real bond between them and their horse, to have someone else say, "ah, they just needed time to settle". Yes!! I know that. Time and patience are great but it is time and patience AND technique that really works.
