Off to work to do some fairly routine desensitisation and long reining today, except that these things are never routine. I have to take into account the type and temperament of the horse and the environment we are working in. In Coco's case we were going to work in a school fenced off with electric fencing which he could easily jump. Really important then to keep things under the radar especially as there are external influences such as poly-tunnels, high hedges and people moving about in the distance all of which take his attention and add air to his confidence balloon.
In Jazz's case she hasn't worked in the top paddock before and my own ponies are around and about. In both cases it's really good to give them a job to do so that they have something to concentrate on and to keep their attention with me.
We ended the session with Charly doing a little lean over to see how she would react.
