4th November, 2016 Growing Accustomed

Braved the rain this morning and had a lovely session with Dottie. I really wish I could think of a better term for desensitisation, I don't like the terms spook-busting or bomb-proofing either. The purpose of the so-called desensitisation exercises is not to switch a horse off to danger, or kill their curiosity. It's a way of assessing a horse's temperament and past history, teaching the horse and the owner how they might deal with fear, and creating a predictable pattern when introducing something new.
