12th September, 2016 Compact and Bijou
If all of the students that came out of Sparsholt were like Izzie we would be laughing, with joy I mean! Such a pleasant, considerate, and intelligent young lady to work with. The photos of her horse don't do Cody justice. She is a five year old Thoroughbred ex-racehorse, built for sprinting.
An early experience of attempting to load into a trailer went badly wrong when she bolted out of the front door. Izzie suspects that this was caused by memories of the starting stalls where she would have been expected to burst out of a small rectangular stall. Today we took everything back to the basics and took everything out of the trailer while we got her accustomed to going in, standing still and enjoying clickered rewards. For now we are backing her out.
I was thrilled to bits with Ivy today who not only came up to talk to me but allowed me to touch her, stroke her face, and then to put on the scarf and the headcollar in the very middle of the field. I lead her and also picked up each of her feet. Tracey then did the same. All of this would have been unthinkable just a few weeks ago.
