16th May, 2012 Family Affairs

It's been three months since I saw Puck and family and it's lovely to see them coming in to their summer coats. Unfortunately the farrier was laid low but we used the opportunity to let them in to the school for the very first time and to do some foot handling. I also gave each of them their wormer. With a close family group like this (mother, two daughters and a son) it's lovely to observe their interaction. Even though there is still a hierarchy, it is very gently imposed and you can tell that they get a lot of comfort and reassurance from being with one another. Elephants without trunks. It's relatively safe to have them milling around each other while you handle their feet providing that you are aware of who moves who in the group.
