11th May, 2013 Hail Halle!

Warmblood horses are a bit of a specialist subject. Super-talented, super athletic and at times acrobatic, they need to be trained very carefully. In my experience they are all right until they are not all right and then they explode! Important then to have a plan and to put some gentle and simple boundaries in place. After that it's a case of extending their comfort zones so that they are not restricted to the the stable for their rest and the manege for their work.

Halle is only a yearling and yet she is 15.2 hh already. Her owner has kept her out all winter and takes her for regular walks in the local woods and lanes. She has a short term, medium term and long term plan for her future. Today we worked on her groundwork and establishing those all important boundaries. Halle responded very well  and was calm and attentive all the way through the hour that we spent with her.

"It was a real pleasure to meet you earlier and thank you so much for today. I found the whole experience really rewarding and Halle most certainly enjoyed herself. I would love to keep in touch if possible in the future for Halle's ground work! x" HB

There are two new foals on the local green. The one above who I have nick-named Half Moon spent a good five minutes investigating me all over and chewing the top of my boots. Interesting whorls on the one below - should make the passport fairly easy to complete!
