14th December, 2014 Roger and Out

Started work today with Shirley and her Forest-bred Roger Red. Whilst he was born on the Forest, he has become worried about wide open spaces, running ponies, and being left behind in company. Now eleven he has spent a lot of time away from his roots and was even a driving pony in France at one time. We had a little look at his groundwork before moving on to ridden work in the school.

Here we considered things like breathing (always useful) and tension. To finish we began to work with clickered rewards which I am hoping will help to undermine some established patterns when we go out and about next time.

"This is fantastic, Sarah [notes and photos]. The session was lovely and Roger enjoyed walking up to the field next to me! It's great to meet a person after my own heart." SF
